National Hunger Study 2006

The 2006 National Hunger study presents information on the clients and agencies served by the Food Bank for Westchester. The information is drawn from a national study, Hunger in America, 2005, conducted for America’s Second Harvest (A2H), the national food bank network. The national study is based on completed in-person interviews with more than 52,000clients served by the A2H food bank network, as well as completed questionnaires from more than 30,000 A2H agencies.

 The National Hunger Study estimates that the Food Bank for Westchester serves 54,000* different people annually. 15,739 different people receive assistance in any given week.

Chronic malnutrition creates unproductive adults in poor health, affecting the work force. The Food Bank for Westchester , Inc, with its 10% overhead and extensive food distribution network, provides a hands-on solution to chronic hunger in Westchester.
