PepsiCo Foundation Fresh Food Fridays:
Feeding 50 Families for 50 Fridays
Thanks to the PepsiCo Foundation, the Food Bank For Westchester will provide 50 families with fresh produce every weekend for an entire year—a total of 70,000 meals.
1 in 5 five residents in Westchester County are hungry. Many of these residents are children, seniors and the working poor: people who have jobs just trying to make ends meet; seniors on fixed incomes; schoolchildren that have no meals at home. The reduction of food costs from their budget indirectly helps the entire community. With meals taken care of each weekend, these families can shift their focus towards other day-to-day expenses such as rent, electricity, transportation and medical.
With funding from the PepsiCo Foundation, every Friday for 1 year, we will provide an additional 50 families food for the weekend. Working with our member agencies throughout the county, we will identify deserving families in need who will benefit from this much-needed program. PepsiCo has been a longstanding, generous supporter of The Food Bank for Westchester for over 20 years. One of the highlights of our partnership is our Retail Recovery Program that includes our retail recovery truck, a treasured member of our fleet. We are honored to continue deepening our partnership with 50 Fridays of Fighting Hunger - a program that will provide fresh food for the entire weekend to 50 hungry families in need.
