The Food Bank for Westchester is committed to providing a variety of healthy foods to the people that we service in Westchester County. These are the individuals who rely on our member agencies for a consistent source of nutritious fresh fruit and vegetables.
We are achieving our goals of growing, acquiring and distributing more pounds of fresh produce to our deserving neighbors with our two Fresh Produce Initiatives:
Our Green Thumb Program, which allows us to purchase fresh foods from local New York State farmers and brokers for distribution to our member agencies on a weekly basis, and
Our Food Growing Program, which works in partnership with several local organizations to cultivate unused land for growing fresh organic produce for hungry Westchester residents while also training at-risk populations, we are achieving our goals to increase the percentage of fresh produce distributed.
