Senior Grocery Program

Seniors make up over 22% of the county’s population at risk of hunger. Getting nutritious food to seniors is one of the goals of Food Bank for Westchester.

This program distributes fresh foods to senior centers and programs where seniors congregate. These foods are provided as cooked meals or groceries to take home. Because many seniors are vulnerable to nutrition deficiencies when fresh foods are scarce or unavailable because of cost or other reasons, the goal is to provide nutritious produce and dairy foods to seniors at risk of hunger. In FY14-15 this program served 209,780 pounds of food to seniors in Westchester.

Currently, there are 18 individual Senior Grocery Distribution Sites:

  • New Rochelle Housing Authority
  • Lincoln Towers in New Rochelle
  • Huguenot House in New Rochelle
  • Tarrytown/Franklin Housing Authority
  • Greenburgh Anthony Veteran’s Park in Ardsley
